Shiatsu Massage

In origin, Shiatsu is a Japanese manual therapy. Pressure is applied to particular points and meridians on the body with the use of thumbs, fingers, hand palms, elbows, knees and even feet when necessary. This type of massage stems from the centuries old eastern medical tradition in which the term CHI “the vital energy of life” plays a central role.

A Shiatsu massage has a direct positive effect on a person’s CHI. When a person is healthy, CHI will flow freely throughout the body via a network of meridians. If a person’s CHI is blocked and unable to flow freely, then ultimately this will lead to health problems. A Shiatsu massages helps CHI flow freely and helps bring body and mind back into balance.

During a Shiatsu massage, it is best to wear loose comfortable cotton clothing. The session takes a minimum of 60 minutes and takes place on a futon mattress.
